Fairway Advocacy at the Independent Living Scotland Charity fair
Capability Scotland has agreed to put up posters advertising our services in the schools that their clients attend. The Glasgow Centre of Inclusive Living have said that they would refer some of their clients to our services as have Citizens Advice Scotland who would make their clients aware of our services. Tim met with an organisation from the North of England that specialises in arranging holidays for people with disability who live in Scotland. This organisation is called ‘Safe Hands Holidays’ http://www.www.safehandsholidays.co.uk and Tim spoke to Karen Dixon their Operations Manager who took a poster to display in one of their Blackpool hotels that many people with disability, residing in Scotland, come to for their holidays. It was arranged for Fairway Advocacy to receive “Safe Hands” monthly magazine in which they would promote Fairway Advocacy with our logo and contact details. Tim was approached by Occupational Therapist from Murchison Castle Nursing Home who took Fairway posters away, two other Occupational Therapists with an interest in advocacy and an Occupational Therapy student who took away promotional material to display in the home that he was based at. Tim was also approached by several Support Staff as well as those with neurological disability and two individuals refer themselves to Fairway Advocacy and they are now being seen as new clients.
